Cancun Extreme Adventures

Cancun has something for each type of traveler. Relaxation, beach, history, culture, and of course, amazing adventures. When traveling here, tourists may want to have a unique experience that couldn’t be lived elsewhere, that’s why the following Cancun extreme adventures are so popular.

Water Sports in Cancun

Let’s face it. Cancun is mainly a beach destination. Few days ago, it was internationally recognized as the best Mexico and Central America’s beach destination by World Travel Awards, an organization which acknowledges, rewards and celebrates excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Water activities and sports are not just popular, but one of the things many people come here to try, from snorkeling in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System to exploring cenotes depths while practicing scuba.

Surf

At some Cancun beaches, you might find Surf Schools where you can rent a board and start practicing this great water sport. It could be a good idea to ask a few of these schools, so you can get the best deal.

Kite Surf

This is usually hired outside the beach. However, it’s possible to find KiteSurf providers selling their packages off the shore.

Flowrider

Some Marinas and hotels have their own wave generator where you can hop on the board and flow with the water. It’s not easy to stay on the board, so you better get ready to hit the plastic beneath the water. It doesn’t hurt much, but it can be shocking for first timers. However, it’s a must try if you have the opportunity to. Maybe you become the next wave king.

Cancun Water Activities

These are not considered sports per se, but are still on the water and can be quite extreme.

Jet Pack

Fly powered by the strength of water. Not everyone dares to try this one, but those who do get to feel an incredible experience.

Jet Ski

So as Surf and Kite Surf Schools, you might find Jet Ski rentals along the beach. An amazing way to explore the sea.

Snorkel

Near Cancun, close to Puerto Morelos town, is the second largest reef barrier in the world. Snorkeling here is a bliss. Lots of colorful fish, impressive corals, fun and curious sea turtles among many other species.

Snuba

It could be considered the next stage after snorkeling. It consists of diving considerably deep in the sea while breathing through a floating device on the surface. You are free of tanks and other gear, so this is one style of diving that lets you move freely. Xel-Ha offers great snuba activities within its park.

Scuba

The final stage of snorkeling and snuba. Practicing scuba in Cancun nearby cenotes is for brave travelers. There are some cenotes where an halocline layer can be found, giving them a scary feel that not everyone is willing to (but should) try.

Xplor Fuego

The only extreme activity on this list including the opposite water element: fire. Xplor Fuego consists of a series of zip lines and underground rivers with great sets including fire, smoke, different water colors and more. Xplor atmosphere turns to adrenaline while high up and to peace when underground.

So, if you are looking for Cancun extreme adventures, now you got some ideas to try out.
