Working out in the Caribbean: Tulum Jungle Gym

Inside view of Tulum Jungle Gym

Dedicating time to our physical health while on vacation is not a crazy idea. Yes, you are supposed to relax, but if you are a bodybuilder or fitness passionate , you may know how impossible is to spend more than one day without working out. You could do some squats or push-ups at home (or your hotel room), but if you have been training for some time, you may know how necessary is to have a high-intensity workout to use the energy stored in your body and to keep going with your body-sculpting process. On vacation at Tulum and can’t find where to workout without giving up Caribbean style? Tulum Jungle Gym may be the place you are looking for.

Funnel your energy

Let’s be honest, when we are on vacation we eat (or at least taste) every single new dish we come across and often exceed our regular food intake. That’s normal, it happens. You are in hedonistic mood and want to give your palate some nice whimps. There is no need to feel bad when ingesting a bit more calories than usual as long as we take a moment of the day to use all that energy brought by food to our bodies, get into beast-mode, lift actual heavy weights and complete a full arm, leg or abs routine.

Beachfront workout

Forget about the typical walls and iron machines as view while you tone up those muscles. Tulum Jungle Gym is located right at the beach in Tulum so you can experience sea breezes as you do your reps. Not just will you have sea views, but will also be able to workout on you bare feet with sand between your toes, in the best Tulum style.

Dumbbell area

This place counts with all the necessary equipment to complete your arm routine. More than just a couple of dumbbells, there is a whole area dedicated to them, which are made of ecologic not-so-usual materials. You can find from the smallest to up to 50 kilograms.

Pulley area

The gym also counts with a pulley area. Made of rope and baskets to calibrate weight, these machines are useful to train a wide range of muscles, from back, shoulder, triceps to biceps. There is also a double pulley for chest exercises.

Z Bar

What gym would be complete without these gems? Even though these are “hybrid” (half iron, half wood), they are available and that’s what it counts. So, if your routine includes upright rows or close grip biceps curl, there is nothing to worry about.

Calisthenics area

Now, for those self-weight exercises lovers, there is also a bars area where you will find a high bar for chin-ups and parallel bars for chest dips, among many other exercises.

There can be thousands of excuses, but for each one of those there is at least two good reasons to workout. Let’s burn the hell out of those tacos!
