Where is Tulum?

Tulum is located in the south of Quintana Roo’s state. It takes approximately 2 hours to get there from Cancun. It is quite easy when you take a private transfer to Tulum from the Cancun Airport. You can read more about how to get to Tulum in our previous article.

Weather in Tulum

Tulum’s climate is tropical, and hot all year round, with a rainy and sultry season from May to October, and a cooler and relatively drier season from November to April. However, even in this season, it is possible to have rain, wind, and some cloudy weather, especially in December and January.

The city is located on the Yucatan Peninsula, at 20 degrees north latitude, south of Puerto Morelos, in the state of Quintana Roo.

Winter is typically warm, but sometimes, from mid-November to mid-March, when the winds from the United States blow, there can be cool and windy days. The temperature can drop to 10/12 °C at night and can remain around 20/22 °C during the day.

From June to November (but more likely from August to October), there is a risk of hurricanes.

Temperature In Tulum throughout the year

The best time of the year to visit Tulum is around March and May. Is just the perfect combination between fresh air and sunny days. There’s not much humidity as in the summer, and it is not the rainy season yet at the end of May throughout August. In March, you can still have some cool nights and might even need a light sweater.

Staying in Tulum you should definitely take a half-day to explore the Mayan Ruins. These buildings are settled right on the shores of the Caribbean sea, which makes it a unique tourist attraction in the world.
