Shopping in Cancun
As any tourist destination, there are very nice malls (locally named “plazas”) with globally recognized brands and stores where you can go shopping in Cancun. Having in mind that there is always a price-quality relation, on some of these malls you can find quality products at a relatively low price, and in some others you can find high-quality products from the most recents collections at a higher price, yet still moderated and accesible. Check the following list of malls in Cancun hotel zone and downtown.
Plaza La Isla
Characterized by its famous restaurants, close distance to Nichupté Lagoon and its iconic Wheel of Fortune, this mall is potentially the most visited by tourists in Cancun, thanks to its wonderful location in the middle of Hotel Zone. In this ‘plaza’, you can find renowned restaurants, so as premium departamental stores and globally recognized stores. Plus, you can enjoy beautiful sunsets falling over Nichupté Lagoon.
Plaza Kukulcán
Possibly the second most visited of the Hotel Zone. Also known as “Luxury Avenue”, this mall exhibits cars, motor bikes and high quality products in general. It is located few steps from ‘Playa Marlin’ (Marlin Beach), so you will be able to enjoy a beach afternoon after visiting this mall. Is one of the firsts malls constructed over the Hotel Zone.
Marina Town Center
The widest mall on the touristic side of Cancun. Recently constructed, this outdoor mall is a really nice place to go shopping, to the movies or enjoy a meal. Being the only pet-friendly mall of Hotel Zone, it is located in a touristic-residential spot named ‘Puerto Cancun’, so it is a quiet and less visited than the ones mentioned before.
Plaza Las Américas
The most popular ‘plaza‘ of the whole city. Locals and tourists visit this mall very frequently. Here, you can find from supermarkets with selected products, to american departamental stores. For its location in the most centric spot of the destination, it is a place with a lot of traffic and movement. Counts with all kind of stores, so as bars and restaurants. It is connected to “Malecón Tajamar” (Tajamar promenade) trough its extension, base of hotel and residentials, ‘Malecón Américas’ (Américas promenade)
Plazas Outlet
Also located in downtown, the stores of this mall offer highly competetive prices. Counts with coffee stores, gyms and restaurants. From downtown, is the only outdoor mall, so it is recommended to wear comfy and fresh clothes if it is a sunny day. It is more frequented by locals than tourists, and for this reason, you can find special offers that might not be found in other ‘plazas’.
