Location
It is the largest transboundary reef in the world. Contains the second-largest barrier reef in the world. It extends over approximately 1000 km, along the Caribbean coast of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. It is key to the protection of sea turtles, about 60 types of corals and more than 500 fish species.

What is it?

Seven of the eight species of sea turtles that exist in the world nest on Mexican beaches. Four nest on beaches located in the reef lagoons off the coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
