Beach time is a big draw for a trip to Cancun. If enjoying the Cancun weather is your first objective, wintertime temperatures typically range from 75 to 90 degrees from December through April. The temperature rises and humidity increases just in time for Cinco de Mayo, with most days reaching the mid-90s until September.

Definitely, the best time to visit Cancun, according to the weather conditions, is December through April. It is sunny and warm, but not oppressively so. Expect little raindrops and temperatures between 75 and 90.

Plan a vacation with no sargassum

Last year, 10,000 tons of seaweed were taken out of seven municipalities, including Cancun. Massive seaweed patches are monitored by airplanes, and barriers are put in place to avoid landfall. Although sargassum seaweed has been around for ages, recent years have seen greater blooms as a result of climate change and environmental concerns including pollution and deforestation.

We are just at the beginning of the year and one of the most visited attractions when visiting Cancun and the Riviera Maya has struggled with strikes. Chichen Itza has been forced to close its doors due to a manifestation happening right in the Pisté town where the site is located. This has occasioned the closing of the archaeological site for one week now.

Something similar happened at the archaeological site of Coba, leaving thousands of tourists without the possibility of visiting these archaeological wonders.

Still, this doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy amazing ruins and killer views. Ek Balam, Tulum, Mayapan, or Uxmal, are great options to visit when in Cancun or the Riviera Maya. These are less crowded spots and amazing sites to learn about the Mayan Culture…

Pre-booking and having an organized agenda when traveling is always our recommendation. But if you can set aside one or two days to explore you can let yourself be amazed by less touristic attractions, and find treasures of your own.

A great example of this is the cenotes. You can go to the most iconic ones for sure but expect a crowd. By renting a car or booking Private Transportation services for 6 hours or 12 hours, you can set off for adventure and explore along the Riviera Maya and deep into the jungle to the cheaper and most beautiful cenotes you’ll find.
